The Heidi Thorne Show will broadcast live on Facebook Live, on Heidi Thorne’s Facebook Page (@HeidiThorneCommunications), on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. Central Time (US), beginning Tuesday, September 25, 2018. The podcast is currently broadcast on iTunes, Stitcher and Podbean for audio, and on YouTube for video. It is hosted by business author, Dr. Heidi Thorne, MBA/DBA, who discusses self publishing and small business topics.
The new Facebook Live broadcast will allow users to interact with Heidi before, during and after the broadcast. An announcement about the show’s topic will be posted the day prior, giving viewers the opportunity to post questions they would like answered. During the the show, viewers will be able to post comments or additional questions for Heidi.
After the show, the rebroadcast will be available on Heidi Thorne’s Facebook Page, where viewers can post additional comments or questions. It will also be posted to YouTube, and the audio will be available on iTunes, Stitcher and Podbean.
“My main goal in doing the podcast via Facebook Live is to expand the reach of the podcast to more authors who are self publishing their books. As well, one of the downsides of podcasting is that it can be very one-sided, with hosts merely talking to the audience. This Live broadcast will give viewers the opportunity to ask questions and get the information they need,” says Heidi.

SWAG: How to Choose and Use Promotional Products for Marketing Your Business, a book on promotional products (swag) buying tips by Heidi Thorne, is now available in audio format on Audible.com, iTunes Audio Books, and Amazon.com.
SWAG was originally published as a print book and Kindle eBook in 2011. The release of the audio edition coincides with the 7-year anniversary of its original publication.

The Thorne Self Publishing Survey 2018 has launched. The purpose of the survey is to determine what motivates self published authors and what they have achieved both financially and personally. The research is being conducted by Dr. Heidi Thorne, MBA/DBA, of Thorne Communications LLC.
The first Thorne Self Publishing Survey was done in 2016, and is planned as a biennial survey. In summary, the results of the 2016 survey suggest that the top motivation of self published authors is to make money. However, the top challenge for these authors was a three-way tie with no time, not making enough money from their books, and not knowing where or how to market their books. In spite of their challenges with financial achievement, self published authors surveyed remained optimistic to very optimistic about their book revenue prospects for the coming year.
As in 2016, the survey will be conducted using the popular Survey Monkey platform. With the exception of a few very minor updates to the questions for clarification, the survey is identical to the last one so that the results of the previous and current surveys can be accurately compared. Substantially the same populations will be invited to participate again in 2018, with even greater emphasis on social media solicitations.
